Project Overview

The Amin Jewellers flagship showroom at Bashundhara City represents a seamless blend of legacy, luxury, and contemporary retail design. Amin Jewellers—an iconic Bangladeshi brand established in 1966—envisioned a space that would reflect their heritage while elevating the customer experience to international standards.

Vertical Architects was entrusted with designing and executing both the main jewellery showroom and a dedicated diamond showroom, creating a refined environment that is elegant, functional, and unmistakably premium.

Design Concept & Challenges

The primary design challenge was achieving harmony between Amin Jewellers’ prestigious brand identity and the existing interior language of Bashundhara City, which features dominant golden finishes across walls, floors, columns, and ceilings.

The design needed to:

  • Feel luxurious yet welcoming

  • Stand out visually while remaining cohesive with the mall

  • Offer a comfortable, customer-centric retail experience

  • Reflect the sophistication seen in high-end jewellery stores in Dubai and other global retail hubs

Design Strategy

Material & Color Palette

To balance the mall’s heavy gold tones, a refined beige, white, and soft gold palette was introduced. White marble flooring and ceilings provide brightness and visual relief, while subtle gold accents maintain a sense of opulence.

Spatial Zoning & Circulation

The showroom layout was carefully zoned to enhance both display clarity and customer movement:

  • Neckpieces line the periphery for high-visibility presentation

  • Bangles and smaller ornaments are displayed centrally, organized around a striking glass display tower

  • Clear circulation paths ensure ease of movement without congestion

Reception & Transaction Experience

Breaking away from traditional jewellery store layouts, the reception and cashier areas were separated from sales counters. This allowed customers to discuss purchases and complete transactions discreetly, without disrupting the browsing experience of other visitors.

Entrance & First Impression

The entrance was designed with a five-star hotel–inspired approach, featuring elegant seating and a welcoming spatial composition that immediately sets a tone of exclusivity and comfort.

Customer Comfort & Exclusivity

  • Strategically placed seating areas encourage customers to relax and take their time

  • A private VIP room offers an exclusive setting for high-value consultations

  • A dedicated coffee zone, complete with a custom golden table, enhances hospitality and dwell time

Signature Design Features

  • Jewellery Storage Columns: Structural columns were transformed into sculptural jewellery towers with curved glass display boxes, maximizing function while adding visual interest

  • Material Contrast: Columns finished in rustic Airslate introduce texture and warmth, balancing the brilliance of gold and diamonds

  • Ceiling Design:

    • 60% solid ceiling panels

    • 40% open, operable sections (as per Bashundhara City guidelines)

    • Curved ceiling geometry integrated with chandeliers and panel lighting for a cohesive, luxurious ambiance

Diamond Showroom Design

The diamond showroom, spanning 586 sq ft, was designed as a refined extension of the flagship store with its own distinct character.

  • Color Palette: Mauve and grey tones evoke sophistication and exclusivity

  • Design Language: Minimalist layout with focused display zones to highlight diamond brilliance

  • Ceiling Continuity: The curved ceiling motif was retained to ensure brand consistency across both spaces

Despite its compact size, the diamond showroom delivers a powerful visual and experiential impact.

The Story Behind the Design

Architect Farheen Alia reflects on the journey as one of the most fulfilling projects undertaken by Vertical Architects. From the first meeting with Amin Jewellers to final execution, the focus remained on translating a legacy brand into a contemporary spatial experience.

“This project was not just about designing a store—it was about honoring a brand’s history while redefining how customers experience jewellery retail in Bangladesh.”

The overwhelming positive feedback from both the client and customers affirmed the success of a design that is aesthetic, functional, and emotionally engaging.

Project Outcome

The Amin Jewellers showroom now stands as one of the most distinguished retail spaces on its floor at Bashundhara City—setting a new benchmark for jewellery showroom design in Bangladesh.

At Vertical Architects, we believe that great retail design goes beyond display—it tells a story, builds trust, and creates memorable experiences.
